I started playing bass back in the 80s with covers band 'Early December', and have been playing ever since.

My main band now is weddings and functions band Cover Girl which I started together with Dino Gallo over 10 years ago and is probably stronger now than it has ever been. We are currently in the throws of mastering our 3rd CD.

I was introduced to Doug last year by Carl (we both work for the same company) and started thinking about what I would want from a custom bass. I am no pro bassist, but I know what I like, so the result was that in January 2011, I commissioned Doug to build a 5 string hollow body bass guitar loosely bassed on Shonna Tuckers (Drive By Truckers) Green Delia Bass.

The neck, fretboard and body are all maple with a lovely piece of birdseye maple laminate on the Warick shaped headstock.

The neck contour has been taken from my 5 string Steinberger headless which I find a really comfortable and speedy neck. Doug is shaping / carving the rear of the bass as well as the front so that it sits well when on a strap - one thing I don't like about most hollow bodies I have tried. The bass will be finished in translucent green to show off the beautiful wood which together with the maple fretboard should make one stunning beautiful bass which is equally a joy to play.
